The faculty of law

Embark on a journey to discover the rich legacy and academic excellence embodied by the Faculty of Law at the Islamic University of Riau, proudly holding the title of the oldest law faculty within the university and across the entire Riau Province. Our presence is deeply intertwined with the inception of the Islamic University of Riau, reflecting and shaping the societal dynamics of our community. As the oldest in the region, our faculty serves as a tangible realization of the aspirations of the people of Riau, particularly those who adhere to the Islamic faith.

These were the visionaries who played a pivotal role in sponsoring the establishment of the Islamic University of Riau:

In the early stages of the Islamic University of Riau's establishment, the Faculty of Law initially functioned as a department, specifically the Law Department within the Faculty of Religion. Commencing on September 4, 1962, the inaugural lectures set the foundation for its academic journey. One year later, on April 18, 1963, the law department within the Faculty of Religion gained autonomy, evolving into the distinct entity known today as the Faculty of Law at the Islamic University of Riau.

The formal inauguration of the Faculty of Law was orchestrated by Prof. Anton Timur Jailani, M.A. from the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. This significant event was highlighted by a commencement lecture delivered by Mr. Nazar Said, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at that time.

Since 1966, the Faculty of Law has consistently excelled, conducting State examinations and producing esteemed Bachelor of Laws graduates. The year 1974 marked another milestone with the introduction of official doctoral-level lectures (Complete Bachelor), in collaboration with the Faculty of Law and Society at Andalas University in Padang

In 1976, a transformative phase saw the Faculty of Law undergo a status change, rebranding as the School of Law and Society (STH&PM). This restructuring allowed the State examination for complete bachelor's degrees to be conducted in 1979. In the same year, after persistent efforts, the School of Law and Society was reinstated as the Faculty of Law at the Islamic University of Riau. This enduring legacy, characterized by numerous achievements and developments, continues to shape the present academic landscape. Individuals who have previously served as Deans within the Faculty of Law at UIR during their leadership tenure include:
