Pekanbaru – The Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Riau (FH UIR) is holding a Public Lecture with the Deputy for Human Rights Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections (Kemenko Kumham Imipas) of the Republic of Indonesia. This public lecture on legal reform carries the theme “Building Synergy in the Legal Reform Ecosystem” and is scheduled for Wednesday, 6 May 2026, at 13.30 WIB in Room 104, Faculty of Law UIR.
The event also includes the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Faculty of Law UIR and the Riau Regional Law Office (Kantor Wilayah Hukum Riau). The forum is therefore not only a space for academic discussion, but also marks the start of a new institutional partnership.
Featuring a Professor of Constitutional Law from FH UI
The lecture features Prof. Dr. Fitra Arsil, S.H., M.H., Professor of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, as the speaker. The Dean of the Faculty of Law UIR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosyidi Hamzah, S.H., M.H., is also taking part in the forum, while the discussion is moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wandi, S.H., M.H.
A Public Lecture on Legal Reform and the Need for Synergy
The theme speaks to a very current need. Legal reform cannot rely on changing regulations on paper alone. It calls for real collaboration between the central government, regional officials, and the academic community. Bringing together a ministry, a regional office, and a professor of constitutional law in one forum offers a glimpse of the kind of ecosystem that is meant to be built.
For students, this is a chance to hear first-hand how ideas about legal reform are discussed, from both a policy and a scholarly perspective. The MoA with the Riau Regional Law Office also continues FH UIR’s efforts to broaden its network of partners, following its earlier MoA signing with LAMR Riau Province.
