Pekanbaru, February 18, 2025 – The Scientific Writing Debate Forum (FDK) of Universitas Islam Riau proudly hosted the Justitia Debate Dekan Cup Competition 2025, a debate competition participated in by high school (SMA/K/MA) students from across Riau Province.
The two-day event, held on February 17 and 18, 2025, took place at the 3rd-floor auditorium of the Faculty of Law at Universitas Islam Riau. This competition served as a platform for students to enhance their public speaking, argumentation, and critical thinking skills on current issues in society.
This debate competition was organized to provide participants with a platform to develop their intellectual potential in communication and argumentation, utilizing strong logic based on valid data and facts. As a prestigious event, the Justitia Debate Dekan Cup Competition 2025 featured three professional judges with extensive academic backgrounds and experience: Dr. Aryo Akbar, S.H., M.H., Ms. Elsi Elvina, S.H., M.H., and Dr. Raja Febrina Andarina Zaharnika, S.H., M.H. Their evaluations and decisions played a significant role in recognizing participants who demonstrated exceptional debate skills.
The event was organized by Rahima Azzahra as the Chief Organizer and Imfala Mutiara Adha as the Secretary, both students from the 2022 cohort of the Faculty of Law at Universitas Islam Riau. They played a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and ensuring the smooth execution of the competition, which was attended by various dignitaries and esteemed faculty members from the Faculty of Law at Universitas Islam Riau. Some of the notable attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Admiral, S.H., M.H., Dr. Rosyidi Hamzah, S.H., M.H., Dr. Teguh Rama Prasja, S.H., M.H., Dr. Selvi Harvia Santri, S.H., M.H., Dr. Sri Arlina, S.H., M.H., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asri Muhammad Saleh, S.H., M.Hum., and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Desi Apriani, S.H., M.H. Their presence provided invaluable moral and academic support to the competition participants.
The Justitia Debate Dekan Cup Competition 2025 was also supported by various sponsors, enriching the participants’ experience. These sponsors included BRK Syariah, Bank Syariah Indonesia, Zanafa, Glow Box, Smiles Ice, By.U, and Telkomsel. Their support highlighted a shared commitment to fostering intellectual growth and enhancing the public speaking skills essential for the younger generation.
Beyond being a competitive event, the debate competition also served as a platform to strengthen relationships between schools across Riau Province and encouraged students to actively engage in intellectual activities. Participants from various regions in Riau showcased great enthusiasm, not only in presenting their arguments but also in actively listening and responding to their opponents’ points in a constructive and critical manner. Through this event, students were expected to improve their public speaking skills and expand their knowledge on various topics relevant to Indonesia’s social, political, and legal developments.
With the successful execution of this event, the Scientific Writing Debate Forum (FDK) of Universitas Islam Riau hopes to continue contributing to the development of an academic and intellectual culture among students while reinforcing the Faculty of Law’s reputation as a center of excellence in legal education. The Justitia Debate Dekan Cup Competition 2025 stands as proof of the Faculty of Law’s commitment to nurturing a generation of young individuals who are not only intelligent but also capable of critical thinking and confident public speaking in facing the challenges of the modern era.
