Pekanbaru, June 03, 2025 – Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) has officially appointed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Admiral, S.H., M.H. as Rector of UIR for the 2025–2029 term. The appointment was made during the Rector Election Senate Meeting held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Auditorium, 4th Floor of the Rectorate Building.
The election was conducted by members of the UIR Senate, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Admiral receiving the majority of the votes.
Before the election process, each candidate presented their vision, mission, and work program. In his presentation, the elected Rector emphasized his vision to continue the achievement of UIR’s Vision 2041: becoming a World-Class Islamic University based on Faith and Piety.
To realize this vision, he outlined several strategic missions, including:

Strengthening synergy among stakeholders,

Establishing trustworthy and transparent governance,

Advancing quality higher education,

Promoting impactful and high-quality research,
-
Enhancing responsive, innovative, and sustainable community service,

Reinforcing Islamic preaching (dakwah) within the university’s core functions.
The proposed work programs span across key areas such as institutional development, education, research, community service, Islamic preaching, quality assurance, student affairs, human resources, infrastructure, finance, and partnerships.
Current Rector Prof. Dr. Rer. Pol. H. Syafrinaldi, S.H., MCL extended his congratulations, stating, “A great responsibility lies ahead. The work programs presented are promises that must be fulfilled.”
Congratulations were also expressed by other senate members, who emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy to achieve UIR’s Vision 2041.
The inauguration of the newly elected Rector is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
