Faculty of Law at Universitas Islam Riau Distributes Humanitarian Aid for Disaster Victims in West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh

Pekanbaru – The Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), distributed humanitarian aid to communities affected by natural disasters in West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh through the humanitarian organization DT Peduli on Monday, December 8, 2025.

The aid distribution was the result of a fundraising initiative involving the entire academic community of the Faculty of Law UIR, including lecturers, educational staff, and students, as a form of social responsibility and solidarity with disaster-affected communities.

The assistance collected consisted of 45 boxes of wearable clothing, 10 boxes of food supplies, 20 kilograms of rice, 1 box of soap and shampoo, as well as cash donations totaling IDR 1,650,000. The aid was symbolically handed over to DT Peduli at the Donation and Aid Collection Post before being distributed to beneficiaries in the affected areas.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law UIR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosyidi Hamzah, S.H., M.H., stated that this activity reflects the strong commitment of the Faculty of Law UIR to promoting humanitarian values and social awareness within the academic environment.

“We hope that this assistance can help ease the burden of our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster and become a form of continuous charity for all donors who have contributed,” he said.

The activity was fully supported by the leadership of the Faculty of Law UIR, including Dr. Selvi Harvia Santri, S.H., M.H. as Vice Dean I, Dr. H. Zulfikri Toguan, S.H., M.H. as Vice Dean II, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkarnaini Umar, S.H., S.Ag. as Vice Dean III.

Through this initiative, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Riau, reaffirms its commitment to contributing not only in the academic field but also through social and humanitarian activities as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
