Law Faculty Student of Universitas Islam Riau Wins 3rd Runner-Up in Putri Hijabfluencer Riau 2025

Seli Pebriani, a 2022 student of the Faculty of Law at Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), successfully achieved the position of 3rd runner-up in the prestigious Putri Hijabfluencer Riau 2025 competition, held at the Idrus Tintin Art Pavilion.

Putri Hijabfluencer Riau is a talent and inspiration search event for Muslim women that not only highlights the beauty of wearing hijab, but also emphasizes personality values, knowledge, digital creativity, and positive influence on social media.

Speaking to the UIR Public Relations team on Thursday (June 3, 2025), Seli shared that the registration process involved administrative selection, interviews, training classes, digital content evaluation, and the grand final. Each stage tested participants’ mental strength, creativity, and ability to think critically and Islamically in addressing various social issues.

“I wanted to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone and show that hijabi women can still be active, confident, and have a voice in public spaces. I also wanted to spread a positive message about hijab and the importance of being yourself amidst the fast-paced digital world,” said Seli.

During her time at university, she has been active in the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Law as part of the media team. Outside of campus, she is involved as a fashion show model, muse, private tutor, and also works in wedding organizing and music concert events. Additionally, she runs a handmade bracelet business and works as a cashier and barista at a café. All of this, she says, is done to gain experience, learn independence, and remain productive while managing her studies.

“The feeling is a mix of gratitude, emotion, and pride. It’s not just about the title, but the journey and process I went through. Standing on that stage representing Riau and UIR is truly an honor,” Seli said proudly.

According to her, hijabfluencers play an important role as agents of change. In the digital era, they can spread positive values, shape the image of strong, independent, and intelligent Muslim women, and educate society through social media.

“For me, hijab is a form of obedience, identity, and protection. Hijab is not a limitation, but rather a bridge toward becoming a better and more empowered version of oneself,” Seli concluded.

Support didn’t just come from her family, but also from Universitas Islam Riau. UIR strongly encourages students to be active in various fields. Its facilities, environment, and open-minded lecturers support students in developing their potential beyond academics and exploring their talents while carrying the name of the university. (hms/smh)
