FH UIR and FH Universitas Riau Officially Sign MoA

Pekanbaru, Monday, November 24, 2025 — The Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Riau (FH UIR), officially carried out the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Riau. This collaboration marks a strategic effort to strengthen academic partnerships in the areas of education, research, scientific publications, and the development of programs aligned with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

The MoA signing ceremony was attended and signed directly by:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosyidi Hamzah, S.H., M.H, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Riau

  • Dr. Hayatul Ismi, S.H., M.H, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Riau

Also present during the event were key officials of FH UIR:

  • Dr. Selvi Harvia Santri, S.H., M.H – Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs, Research, and Innovation

  • Dr. H. Zulfikri Toguan, S.H., M.H – Vice Dean II for Administration and Resources

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkarnaini Umar, S.H., S.Ag., MIS – Vice Dean III for Student Affairs, Alumni, Partnership, and Islamic Propagation

The signing ceremony took place at Room 1.04, Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Riau, from 09:00–11:00 AM WIB, marking an important milestone in establishing institutional cooperation between both faculties.

Strengthening Academic Synergy for Legal Development

Through this collaboration, FH UIR envisions long-term joint programs, including:

  • Student and staff exchange programs

  • Collaborative research and policy studies

  • Joint journal publications

  • Workshops, lectures, and academic forums

This partnership is expected to foster a strong academic ecosystem and contribute to the development of a responsive and just national legal system—particularly in areas concerning indigenous rights and legal reform.

Monthly Seminar Featuring Theme: “Protection of Indigenous Communities’ Rights”

In conjunction with the MoA signing, the event continued with the Faculty of Law Monthly Seminar, presenting the theme:

The topic aligns with current legal developments in Indonesia, especially regarding recognition and protection of indigenous groups as legal subjects. The seminar served as a platform for academic discussion, policy insight exchange, and a potential starting point for future collaborative research between the two faculties.
